 The Management of Our Pre-School

A parent management committee - whose members are elected by the parents of the children who attend pre-school - manages the pre-school. The elections take place at our Annual General Meeting. The AGM held in March, is open to the parents of all the children who attend pre-school. It is our shared forum for looking back over the previous year's activities and shaping the coming year's plan. Committee meetings are held every half term and dates of meetings can be found on the pre-school notice board.

The committee is responsible for:

·         Managing the pre-school’s finances;

·         Employing and managing the staff;

·         Making sure that the pre-school has - and works to - policies that help it to provide a high quality service; and

·         Making sure that the pre-school works in partnership with the children's parents.

The Management Committee for March 2009 to March 2010 are:

Chair (Officer)

Knows roles and legal obligations of the committee

Organises criminal records bureau checks for new employees

Maintains staffing ratios in accordance with National Care Standards

Ensures committee members and staff have clearly identifies roles and responsibilities

Reviews and carries out staff appraisals.

Manages the AGM meetings.

Carry out annual risk assessments.

Coordinates and takes responsibility for examining existing policy and procedures and updates as necessary.

Manages partnerships.

Organises inductions with staff, parents and children.

Decides who will attend committee meetings.

Updates the business plans or creates a new one.

Responsible for paying staff wages, tax and N.I.

Books venue for committee meetings

Updates and circulates contact numbers for committee members and staff.

Informs Ofsted and Charity Commission of any changes

Registration - Pre-School Manager

Responsible for managing parental enquiries, arranging visits, managing waiting lists, informing parents of places and sessions.

Fundraiser

Responsible for all fundraising events to raise money for equipment and resources

Village Hall Rep

Is a nominated village hall trustee and liases between pre-school and the village hall

Parent Rota

Is responsible for creating the parent rota where parents help for a morning session at pre-school.

Polly’s Appeal Reps

A parental group whose aim to build a new pre-school annex, adjoined to the village hall. We hold regular Polly’s Appeal meetings through out the year. New members always welcome.
